How do you make your own pipe?

Pipemaking can be done with a few tools
as long as you take your time:
You can make a pipe using
1 flat file, 1 round file,
         sandpaper of different grades
         and a vice.

Choose a pipekit

       Design your pipe:

Draw your dream pipe on a piece of paper
or directly onto the pipe kit.

      Shape your pipe

Use a rasp or a band saw
         to make the rough shape.
Then use a flat and a round file
to get closer to the pipe of your choice.
Guide the file in the same direction
as the main lines on your pipe.

You can also use a disc- or beltsander
if you have access to such equipment.

If you want to change the curve of your mouthpiece,
you can do this by heating it to 150 degrees Celsius.
Heat in carefully with a heat gun or in candle.
Stop the process in cold water and the shape will stay.

      Sanding

When you are satiesfied with the rough shape on your pipe,
you remove file-lines by using sandpaper, starting with 80 or 100 - paper.
Use 150, 220 and finally 320 paper until you have the finish you want.

      Polish, if you want

If you want a shiny surface on your pipe,
you can use a filt-disc attached to a drill.
This disc coupled with standard polishing paste
         will remove the finest sckratches
on both the mouthpiece and the pipe head.

Alternatively, you can use a fine sanding paper
& som wood oil on the outside of your pipe head.
But your pipe will also stay "natural".
